Rules

  • Inspired by Northern Michigan, YooperSticks is a handcrafted, suitable game for the whole family. Designed and manufactured in the United States. YooperSticks is a fun outdoor game that is competitive regardless of talent.

Setup:

  • To begin the game the players will randomly select the order to throw. If you have already played then the winner gets to choose the order. The sticks should be arranged in a formation with odd numbers on the left and evens on the right (see picture 1). The Red Cherry will be in the middle. Every player should stand 10 feet from the sticks (see picture 2). Each player will take turns throwing the Petosky and attempt hitting the sticks.

Scoring:

  • After a player throws he/she will pick up the stick(s) and place them where the head of the stick(s) landed. The player will total his/her points. If one stick falls, the score is the number on the stick. When more than one falls, the score is the number of fallen sticks. Hitting the Cherry results in the player’s score to be reduced back to zero.

Moving the Cherry:

  • Each thrower is allowed one chance to move the cherry wherever he/she desires. Using your cherry allows the thrower to strategically block sticks, move the cherry from its current location, and reset your strikes.

Strikes:

  • Every thrower is allowed 3 consecutive strikes (or misses) until their time in the game is over. If a thrower hits a stick on the third try, then they are still in the game and their strikes go back to zero. If a thrower hits the cherry on this try, it still counts as a hit but the thrower still goes back to zero.

Winning:

  • To win the game the player that lands on 45 first is the winner. Going over in points will result in the player’s score being reduced down to 25.

Materials:

  • 1x Introduction and Rule Book
  • 12x Sticks
  • 1x Petoskey
  • 1x Traveling Bag
  • 1x Cherry
